Trek |
This tour includes seeing the sites of Lima and Cusco, as well as having the chance to experience a fantastic trek through the Peruvian Andes. This is a rugged, remote trek which leads to the archaeological complex of Choquequirao, perched on a ridge at about 3000 meters above sea level,. Choquequirao, an Inca town that was forgotten buried under dense vegetation for almost five centuries, has been rediscovered and partially restored. From the high mountain passes to the edge of the tropical vegetation, this trek takes you up to 4500m through the Puna region, beyond the boundaries of the tourist version Peru. Views of the glittering peaks of over 6000 meters in height soar above before the trail dips into thick jungle where villages full of happy bare footed kids scamper. The trek enters the valley of the Urubamba River, which runs below Machu Picchu, far from the crowds of tourists converging on foot or by train and culminates with a visit to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu.
