Terra Australis Incognita, "The Unknown Southern Island", is a wilderness of profound beauty and isolation - no roads, pollution or native inhabitants. Aboard our ship, the A1A ice-rated Polar Pioneer, we will visit the astounding protected bays and fjords of the Peninsula Region where we'll view five-mile icebergs, penguins, thousands of whales and castles of ice. One cannot travel to Antarctica without entering a world of heroic exploration.
The voyage takes place during the height of the Austral summer when the Weddell Sea pack ice has broken up. Fin, killer and humpback whales are common, late night sunsets paint the ice, and the weather is warmer. This is the perfect way and the perfect time to experience Antarctica.

"Antarctica was truly like nothing else I have experienced. Waking up to a golden sunrise, shimmering on glassy still water, surrounded by huge, floating chunks of ice. I still get the chills thinking about it, and it stirs something deep inside me. I went thinking that it was going to be a once in a lifetime adventure. I came back certain that I will go there again." -Will Larsen, CA
